What’s Happening at the Lab?
Over the past month, we’ve had a series of events that have all coincided, which has meant I’ve had to step back and take stock before deciding how best to move forward.
Unfortunately, we have had a health issue arise in my family, which has resulted in me needing to be much more present at home and increase my ongoing support to my family.
This has occurred concurrently with both challenges and exciting opportunities arising for others in the Sports Lab team and coincided with the long-term lease at Grafton being up for expiry.
After some reflection, I’ve decided that my family needs to be the focus, and I need to simplify the structure at the Lab to do that. It was definitely a hard decision to come to and not one taken lightly. I’ve spent the last 3 weeks consulting with the staff, who despite being obviously disappointed, have been very supportive in the process of determining what comes next and ensuring we provide maximum continuity to both clients and our wider community.
I’m extremely proud of what we have built together as a team at Sports Lab, and I’m happy to say despite closing this chapter, Sports Lab isn’t closing, it’s simply evolving.
Ongoing services at Sports Lab
From the 13th of August, Sports Lab will be operating from a site in Remuera, with details to come.
We will continue to provide in-person support to our community, albeit in a streamlined and slimmed down model as the decision has been made not to continue with either of the leases after they expire. We will continue to support key events where we can and focus on increasing our online presence including expanding our digital service line offerings.
Our ongoing service offerings will be:
• In-person and digital Physiotherapy sessions
• Biomechanical Assessment and Retraining
• Physiological Testing and Prescription for both sports and health & wellbeing
• Coaching for endurance athletes
• Return to Sport programs
• Postural Assessments and Retraining
And keep a close eye out for some new service lines we have in development and are excited to share with you soon.
Continuity of your care, and next steps for our staff
Due to the simplifying of our physical structures, some staff will be transitioning into a new role at new locations, and some will be continuing with Sports Lab in its new streamlined format.
I will be continuing my clinical practice at the new Sports Lab site in Remuera. You can contact me on vaughan@sportslab,net.nz or contact Rosie at reception on reception@sportslab.net.nz
Livvy will be splitting her clinical time between Sports Lab at our new site and AHG in the city. You can contact her on livvy@sportslab.net.nz and livvywilson@live.com
Hayden will be taking up an exciting opportunity to undertake his OE then settle into a physio role overseas. We wish him all the best in his travels and ultimately his new role.
Ed is moving to Tauranga where he will build towards some exciting offerings he has planned for the community there. You can find him at Ascend Sports Performance and ascendsportsnz@gmail.com
Kerry will also be splitting her time, operating as Kerry Hains Sports & Massage Therapy in Kingsland and AHG in the city. You can contact her at kerryhains@gmail.com
If you are currently working with Ed or Hayden, we will help to match you with the best ongoing care to meet your needs. If currently working with Livvy, Kerry, or Vaughan, we look forward to continuing your care.
If you have previously purchased a massage voucher, please get in contact as we will either honour that with Kerry or reimburse you for the value.
Clinic Locations – Grafton shifting to Remuera
We are currently working through logistics with the landlords at both clinic sites, but the last day at our Grafton site will be on or before the 31st of July, and the last day at Albany will be on or before the 31st of August. The first day at the new site in Remuera will be on the 13th of August. We will provide you with more specific details of final dates and the location of the new site in the upcoming weeks.
Personal thanks
I want to express a deep gratitude for the support from everyone that has been a part of Sports Labs journey over the last 12 years. It is truly the people who make Sports Lab what we are so proud to stand behind. And you, our people, will continue to be what shapes Sports Lab into the future.
Despite the current team not moving forward within the same four walls, we are committed to not only ensuring you have continuity of care, but also to continuing our collaborative approach supporting you in your goals. We continue to believe in a holistic approach to health care, utilising highly skilled providers across various disciplines best matched to provide optimal care for your individual needs. So, going forwards we will be utilising our strong network of providers developed over the past 12 years to assist you in your care.
I really appreciate the support we’ve had to date, and I already feel support building behind our family in this next phase of life. I look forward to continuing my relationship with you, however that may look.
Kind regards,
Vaughan
